This winter New Orleans Il Mercato wedding was super special for me to shoot. I’ve been knowing Jennifer, the bride, since we were kids. We used to cheer competitively together, and when she reached out to me to shoot her wedding, I was so excited to reconnect.
We met up before her wedding to shoot her bridals, and like old friends do, we picked up right where we left off.
For Jennifer and Joseph’s early January wedding, the weather was gorgeous, although a bit chilly by New Orleans standards.
We started the day off at the Roosevelt Hotel, a 125 year old beauty boasting a fabulous lobby with ornate details that were fun to capture.
Once Jennifer and Joseph were all dressed up, we headed to one of New Orleans’ favorite venues, Il Mercato, for the ceremony and reception. Located in the Lower Garden District, this gorgeous oasis made for a perfect backdrop to this couple’s special day.
Nick Hebert handled the florals and added touches that tied the whole space together. Alex, the couple’s friend and officiant for the day, kept everyone laughing during the sweet ceremony.
After the “I dos,” Jennifer and Joseph wasted no time getting the party going. They started the night off with a choreographed father-daughter dance and ended it New Orleans style with a second line and matching umbrellas. The newlyweds were then whisked away into the night by a vintage Rolls Royce.
This couple did their New Orleans wedding right!
