Anissa and Darius agreed to meet up with me at The Vintage to start off their downtown Baton Rouge couples session. We have one in New Orleans, and the Baton Rouge location is just as sweet, serving up coffee, beignets, and bubbles to locals and visitors alike.
When choosing a location for a couples session, I always recommend starting with an activity or a location that is special to you both. Whether it’s a favorite cocktail spot, the bowling alley you frequent or where you first said “I love you,” picking a spot where you feel most comfortable and like yourselves is key. For these two lovebirds, a cute coffee shop where they could cozy up with each other was the obvious choice.
After some sips at The Vintage, we began wandering around downtown Baton Rouge. We took in the sights and captured these two in their element. We passed famed poboy shop Poor Boy LLoyd’s and caught a glimpse of the new National Treasure movie being filmed. Of course we couldn’t miss the LSU flags flying high.
Next we headed toward the Capitol Park Museum. It’s open to visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and features exhibits on the history of Louisiana. Outside, we found a reflection pool and captured some really fun shots. Who doesn’t love a romantic dip?
From there, we made our way to the grounds of the Louisiana State Capitol where Anissa and Darius plan to exchange vows. Built in the early 1930s, the building features stunning details like stained glass windows and art deco architectural details. If you’ve ever been there, you know there’s a beautiful lawn on the property, and we took full advantage. The azaleas were showing off. We got some amazing shots of this handsome couple in front of the bright pink blossoms.
